Bolivar Sport Flyer's Flyer...

Presidents Pen

Happy Hot August Sport Flyers!  Well, actually August started out a cooker but has actually become quite bearable.  The last few evenings have been perfect for flying.  Last week I was able to fly two nights in a row!!  I hope all of you are getting out and burning fuel every chance you get.

Last months meeting resulted in a really nice turn out.  Thanks to all who attended.  As far as business goes there wasn't much talked about since there isn't anything on the schedule coming up.  There was mostly discussion about possible future events and possibly a role in the community for us to get involved in.

On the event side, the idea of holding a giants scale 3D meet was tossed around with members putting their ideas out.  Steve Prewitt had just attended the Huckfest in St. Louis and was fresh with ideas.  I threw in my experiences regarding giant scale as well.  I think after the discussion members were stoked for a possible new event for the club.  I'd like have more discussion and start documenting ideas.

As a role in the community I think it would benefit the club to hold a charity event once a year.  This would put the Sport Flyers on the map and help out a worth while cause.  I threw out several ideas from the good ole days from flying with the Springfield Hawks.  They held some great charity events and raised a lot of money.  Admission was a simple donation at the gate.  The biggest money maker was letting spectators fly on the buddy box for a small donation.  There were endless lines waiting to take their turn at the sticks.  An hour or so long air show starting at noon to show case some of the members' skills and passion for the hobby.  I'd like everyone to think about this event and come to this Thursday's meeting with your ideas.

Well fellow Sport Flyers, keep cool and burn some fuel in the meantime.

Meeting Minutes

No meeting minutes are available at this time.

The day of the last meeting I had surgery with a plate with 7 pins and 4 screws put in my arm to repair the broken bone so I wasn’t able to attend the last meeting.  It has also kept me from flying.  I got my cast off today and am in a brace at the moment for a few more weeks.

Hope to see you at the Meeting

Meeting:  Thursday,14 Aug 2008, 6:30 PM
