Happy July Sport Flyers! June was a super busy month. Fathers day weekend saw our annual Pro Bro event. It was a great success with over 30 pilots. Friday night was great. Flying against a black wall of clouds and lighting. The lights came on and we flew well in to the night. Saturday was just as fun. A light breeze out of the southwest found profiles in the air all day. Again, as with Friday night, the lights came out and we flew until midnight. Sunday there was some flying but most had packed up and left to be with their families for Fathers day. The field was pretty well empty by noon.
The following weekend we held our annual Tweak and Tune heli fly in. There were seven out of town flyers Friday that showed up to get the event started. Saturday was the cooker. The temps and humidity was stiffling. Most sat under their shade and gorged on water. Even with the heat there was someone flying all the time. Sunday saw much better weather but as with all events flying was cut short as out of town pilots gather up their birds and gear and headed home. Flying did remain until late in the afternoon. All in all it was a great event with twenty four registered pilots. A big thanks to Mickey and Dave Ashlock for providing the event with music to keep the atmosphere upbeat.
Our next event is August 1st. It will be our first sailplane fly in.
Our meeting will be held this Wednesday evening, 6:30pm, at the field.
Regards, Adam Quennoz BSF President
