Hello Sport Flyers. Our web site is back up and under construction. I'd like to thank Mike Proffitt for the time he put in maintaining the site over the past few years. It takes a lot of time effort to keep up a web site. I'm finding out now as I have taken over the duties. For a while it will look pretty plain and primitive as I am learning to use the software. Hopefully in the future I can turn it in to a nice place to showcase our club on the WWW. I'd also like to thank Justin Heath and his brother Andrew. Justin helped me get the software going and Andrew for hosting the site and giving us a sweet deal.
As I write, yesterday was our clubs Spring Fly In. Threatening weather kept everyone away. Jim House, Frank Artz, and I were the only ones to brave the weather long enough to burn a tank. Jim was tweaking a different engine he put in his Yak with Frank there as coach. I was able to burn a tank thru my Vibe 50 heli with it's new freshly painted canopy.
The work day was a bust too. I was able to get the place trimmed and mowed. The wind was unbearable so I didn't feel like dragging anything out of the club house. The new outhouse door still needs to be hung and the club house needs to be cleaned out. If anyone has a use for the 4x8 sheets of plastic laying on the floor, feel free to take them any time you like. First thing that needs to be done is to get the paneling stapled down a bit more secure. The little brads are working thru and we had one panel fall off of the ceiling. Then we can paint the inside to brighten it up. Next we need to build a ramp of some sort to accommodate wheel chair access to the club house.
Good news! I finally made contact with our new land owner. He seems very enthusiastic about seeing our models fly. I invited him to attend one of our meetings and to come out on Wednesdays to watch us fly. With that I was also able to get our charter dues sent off. Although a couple months late we should be covered for our upcoming events.
At the next meeting I'll be proposing to move our meeting nights to Wednesdays. It only makes sense since our usual flying night is Wednesday evening. Members that live quite a distance away won't have to make the trip back the next night for a meeting. There also seems to be more showing up on Wednesday evening flying than Thursday meeting. So we'll just combine the two once a month.
Now that the newsletter will be posted on the website, all you have to do is check for updates.
Next meeting is this Thursday, May 14th. 6:30pm. Looks like it's going to be rainy. The field is very soft so it would be wise if you parked up high by the road. See you there.
Regards, Adam Quennoz BSF President
