We ended the year at Smiths Restaurant with a nice meal and a short meeting which included the election of the 2006 club officers.

Randy Cameron (President)

Jack Hartman (Vice President)

Mike Profitt (Secretary/Treasurer)

Marshall Nichol (Field Marshall)

Jim House (Editor)

We also ended this year with some money left in the bank after buying most of the material for our club house. I hope to finish enclosing the house as soon as it warms up this spring.  We still need 7 sheets of inside paneling and insulation which should cost about $150.00 I don’t expect that to be a problem after the 2006 dues are paid.  Thanks to all for chipping in on the construction this year. We have a first class Club with lots of good people to fly with who continue to support us.

I would like to acknowledge Shane Thorington as a returning member, looking  forward to flying with him this year. We also expect to have a new member, Bud Peterson of Buffalo. He is getting back into the hobby and will need our help for a while.

When we can afford it, I would like to see us purchase a trainer system to be kept at the club house for use by the new people who are getting started.

There are also a few things I would like to see happen at the club this year:

1)     Provide a glass case for items for sale by club members

2)     Keep a supply of fuel, plugs, props etc for sale to make a small profit for the club

3)     Install a bulletin board

4)     Install a Transmitter impound  with frequency pins

5)     Obtain a Refrigerator

6)     Obtain a range

7)     Heating  and Air conditioning

8)     Cabinets and sink

9)     Furnish a plane and sell raffle tickets

10) Replace the picnic tables with something more sensible

11) Wiring and lighting for the club house(inside & out)

Off and running with a new year.  As most of you know we end the year with a Christmas dinner at Smiths.  We had about the normal turn out and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

I like to say thank you and that I appreciate all the efforts and donations put out by club officers, members and family this past year.  Many people paid dues in advance and/or loaned the club money to help get our building moving.  Many provided Blood and Sweat during construction of the club house.  Wives and mothers donated baked goods to make our events better.  Mike did all the mowing and I hope we can keep him on line for that next year.  I hate to see Adam leave the Secretary/Treasurer office, but I am sure that Mike Proffitt will do a great job in that position.  Also thank you James and Sherry for all their hard work this past year as newsletter editor, I have done that job and know how much work it is.  Jim House has taken over the newsletter and will do a bang up job there as well.  We also have a new VP this year; Jack Hartline will be replacing Steve Ruble.  Marshall remains the Field Marshall, and you’re all stuck with me for another year as President.

I would like to start out the New Year in our club house.  I will make sure that there are lights available for the meeting, and a little heat to take the chill off.   If it is too cold, we can have a short meeting and migrate to Smith’s for coffee and pie.

I would like to see our club house completed this year.  To do this we need money.  With a lot of the members having already paid dues up front for several years out, the only way I see to raise funds is by having several flying events this year.  I would suggest possibly one or two Fly In’s, maybe a large scale event for ¼ scale birds, a helicopter event and or an Outlaw or SSS combat event.  If we decide to do flying events, we need to schedule these events and get them sanctioned by the AMA, so we can start asking for prizes from sponsors.  Cost of an event sanction is $20.00, this includes a listing in Model Aviation.  I have found that venders are a lot more responsive in providing giveaway items to AMA sanctioned events.  The earlier in the year this happens the better the prizes normally.  If we decide to do these events we will need lots of help, so if you feel up to the task of taking charge of an event, just jump right in.  I will help as much as possible but I can’t do it all.  Another possible fund raiser would be to work with Gary and host a full scale fly in and provide breakfast for a fee to the pilots.

Hope to see you at the club house on Thursday evening the 12th at 6:30 PM.

PS

It looks like the club house is almost closed in, but would be better if 3 of us could transfer the paneling to the loft and spread it out before the meeting.
